I run a monthly critique group for writers in London.
We focus exclusively on the short story, and provide critical feedback and discussion.
The group members have all been writing for some time. Some are studying for or have completed M.A.s in creative writing, and most have had fiction published (or are aiming to in the near future!).
Everyone reads their work aloud, as I believe this is one of the best routes to self-editing, and understanding what isn't working in a story. It's also excellent practice for when you are invited to read your work at an event...
It never ceases to amaze me how much I learn from critiquing other people's writing.
