NaBloPoMo Day 1 - Edgar Martins' The Time Machine at Wapping Project Bankside

Edgar Martins' series of photographs of power stations, entitled The Time Machine, is showing at the Wapping Project Bankside until 5th November.

Here is the first in my series of 100-word stories (or drabbles) inspired by artists currently exhibiting in London.

The labels were in Russian. Or was it Greek? Perhaps his story (read excuse) changed. I believe he just couldn’t resist, all those levers, buttons. All that power.

Just saw you graduate, he types from 2015.  It’s supposed to make me feel better about A-level physics. He forgets I still have to do all the work.

He couldn’t tell at first, he says. Bit warmer outside, but same concrete, same guards. Hungry from all that travelling, he bought a Big Mac. 100% soya, it said. 0.3% fat. He looked up the curling words he’d jotted on his hand. Forward. Back.

  1. One down, 29 to go. Off to a good start - reminds me of a milking parlour - especially the chair in the background too.
